He highlighted TLP’s plans to develop and expand its container facilities to meet future demand and attract new business, reinforcing the port’s role in driving economic growth in Johor while emphasising on the importance of prioritising productivity and ensuring proper equipment to efficiently serve the industry. The Ministry fully supports TLP’s plan to enhance its container facilities, to handle the anticipated volume increase in this area.

“Looking ahead, Tanjung Langsat is poised to meet rising demand from multinational companies. With its container facilities, TLP will play a crucial role in the Johor – Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), contributing to regional economic upscale,” he said.

In line with the increased demand for logistics driven by Malaysia’s strategic location and geopolitical stability, the government has launched the 12 National Key Economic Areas (NKEA) and emphasised the oil and gas sector as a crucial part of the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP). Recognising the evolving global trade dynamics, the port has made significant investments to diversify its operations and enhance its infrastructure, technology, and workforce capabilities.”

He added that as this launch marks the commencement of container operations at Tanjung Langsat Port, Puncak Kosmo has played a pivotal role as a key partner to JCorp in advancing our port expansion and operational capabilities, positioning us to effectively address the dynamic demands of the container industry.

Expressing gratitude to all stakeholders, Datuk Sr. Akmal noted that, ”This transformation would not have been possible without the collaboration and support of key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Transport, the Johor state government, Federal and State authorities, and TLP’s partners in the logistics and shipping industries. JCorp expresses its deepest gratitude to all involved for their trust and partnership in making this milestone a reality”.

Tanjung Langsat Port is now embarking on a development for a third container port in Johor to meet the rising demand from multinational companies. This initiative will complement the existing ports, contributing to Johor’s economic blueprint to attract and facilitate investments, and creating additional business opportunities and jobs for the local community.

Additionally, Tanjung Langsat’s strategic location has attracted new investments in the renewable energy sector. EcoCeres Renewable Fuels Sdn Bhd, a Hong Kong-based company has committed RM1 billion to developing facilities for producing Sustainable Aviation Fuel. Construction is underway, with operations expected to begin next year, further boosting job creation and local businesses further development.

In recognition of Tanjung Langsat’s potential, the Johor state government has included the area in the Johor Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).
This initiative will attract more investors and reinforce Tanjung Langsat Port’s position as a hub for handling liquid, breakbulk, and container cargo, meeting the demands of existing and future clients.
